The Signal
Do you believe in fate? Are we destined to be who we are or is there a choice? For many the truth is somewhere in the middle. The space between self-determination and fatalism. The role of character driven plot and plot driving the character. It's an appealing belief because it gives us some control, but allows us the freedom to accept existence as part of something larger. In many ways, it allows us to take credit for the success we experience and dismiss the failures we endure. A breath of fresh air for egos which require constant oxygen. But, how many choices do we really have? How many chances do we really get? For the Transcendental Ascensionist the answer lives within the signal.
The signal emanates from the future to the past and into our present where we are shaped by it. The signal is a transmission of possibilities, paths that open up new realities, and refine the future. If I drop a pebble into a pond that ripple will move through the surface at decreasing intensity. If I drop two pebbles into the pond the ripples they create will interact, not only effecting each others trajectory, but also altering the perception of their effect. Where once were concentric circles there is now a crisscross pattern as ripples overlap. Increase the number of pebbles and change their sizes and you have what would appear to be chaos, but we know it is simply cause and effect playing out to create a field of interaction. A field predetermined based on the size of the pebble, number of pebbles, and the location of the pebbles entry. The signal acts much the same as the pebbles in the pond, and it is up to us to determine which ripple to ride in the cacophony of effects.
Moving from the past into the future is a process of choosing which effects you wish to channel into new causes. The causes you create produce new effects which signal back from the future. These looped effects create new paths we can choose or ignore. In that way, we are self-determined, but with choices limited by our choices. Following the new paths created by the ripples in hindsight is seen as 'destiny' when in fact it was a series of choice which propagated new opportunities. Self-made 'luck', or perhaps a personal 'hell'. The signal is morality agnostic. It is choice specific. Like the pond, our lives are affected by other lives, ripples interwoven, to create a tapestry of life. Our choices limited by others choices, opportunities evaporate and paths alter as others choose them. Take for instance Alfred Wallace, the co-discoverer of the theory of evolution who developed it in parallel, and independently, alongside Darwin. Had Wallace not accepted the impetus for investigation and simply went on to other things Darwin's work would not have been affected, and vice versa. Had Newton not decided to solve a problem provided by an oak barrel, Leibniz would have still solved his problem of infinite sequences. The signal emanates among all of us and waits for no one. We either 'Ride the Kali Yuga' or we float along the currents.
The signal shapes the future through our choices in the present as a means of refining the past. Through our choices we craft our destiny.
