Transcendental Ascension

Post God Religion

God is the personification of man's need for certainty. The attributes of God reveal the ultimate intent of religion - to ensure security to the masses through the approval of one who controls all things. To provide certainty of one's existence and place in the world. Religion controls the beast that lives within us by providing the security and certainty that pacifies our predator nature. Throughout the centuries this freedom from fear has been fundamental to mankind's ascension into the modern age. Directly responsible for holding together communities dealing with resource scarcity and reproductive competition. The characteristics that we attribute to God grant insight into the mechanism of pacification religions have leveraged to seduce us into living and working together for an unseen greater good.

God is eternal. God is all powerful. God is all knowing. God is everywhere. Immortal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. Religions profess man's ability to either partake in this divinity or benefit from it as a means of inducing conformity to a set of laws, customs, ethics, or ways of life. Often reinforced in story, ceremony, ritual, or celebration. How can the world ever move past such powerful rhetoric and dogma as modern religions profess? How can we ever compete against the promises of past belief? The answer to that is with technology.

Observing our areas of advancement in technology reveals an interesting parallel between the characteristics of God and the scientific advances of man. We have systematically and consistently advanced in general along four axes of power: communication, information, creation, and persistence. These advances, whether they be through improving our lifespan and mental capacities (persistence), in building a wealth of knowledge from advancing discovery in mathematics and biology (information), moving mountains and building machines (creation), or connecting across continents and through space (communication). These advances are the personification of God's characteristics transformed into man's utilities. Technology is a bridge between what religion promised mankind and what mankind provides itself.

Post-God religion is one where the people believe in themselves to fulfill the promises of man for each other, and not in the promises of men to one another. It is one where the rhetoric and dogma of what comes next is replaced by the realities of what we can build and discover now. Through technology, mankind will fulfill the promises of the religions that led us here. Because, religions had their place and purpose in time. The Signal crafted these outcomes so that we may discover this new path. One that says, there is no God, only us in the future reaching back into the past to show us a new present. Through technology we will achieve what obedience once promised to simply glimpse.
